Hip-pity, Hop-pity, Easter is Today
{The Plight of A Budding Fashionista}

Hey Sexies, this is the weekend everyone goes into Easter overload; And eventhough I have published this post previously, I can't help but remember how strongly I felt about shoes as a kid.

I present to you once again, The Plight of a Budding Fashionista.

I will never forget growing up in Chicago and watching my Mom and Aunt turn our house into easter central. The kids had to learn easter speaches, get new clothes, shoes and assist with the assembly line of easter baskets that had to be made for all of the kids at our church. Granted my Mom, Aunt and older sisters did most of the hard work, which somehow turned out to be keeping me away from the massive amounts of candy that were, for once, within my reach.

Sidebar: It really is amazing that I still have my own teeth.

At any rate, the highlight of this week for me was, of course, the Brand New Shoes. Yes, even then I was crazy about shoes. I couldn't understand why everyone else had new shoes with heels. Year after year I would ask my mom for a heel and would get turned down,flat. She would then turn around and get me yet another flat.

{Therapy Moment: Maybe that's why I only buy heels now. Huh...}

One year it even came down to a mother / daughter stand off in a shoe store. This was obviously something very important to me if I was willing to defy my mother and risk having to wear three shoes on Easter Sunday. Two on my feet and one up my ass.

At the age of 10 I got my first pair of heels, well somewhat of a heel. It was a 1 inch, white Patent Leather Mary Jane wedge.

So for you fashionista parents who have a budding fashionista of your own, I trust that you have already gotten the highest, lowest compromise available. If not there is always next year.

Happy Easter Everyone and Happy Shoe Shopping.
